The City

In 1942, Rockford chose to host one of the four inaugural All American Girl’s Baseball League teams. The other cities supporting teams were Kenosha, WI, Racine, WI, and South Bend, IN.

The Rockford Peaches played their home games at Beyer Stadium in Rockford, IL. The image shown (left) was taken from the local Rockford newspaper. It announces a night game at Beyer Stadium against the Kenosha Comets.

Neither the cheering crowds nor Beyer Stadium exist today. The All American Girl’s Baseball League played the last season with only in 1954. The stadium, due to lack of use and general disrepair, was demolished in the early 1990s.
