In 1942, Rockford chose to host one of the four inaugural
All American Girl’s Baseball League teams. The other cities supporting
teams were Kenosha, WI, Racine, WI, and South Bend, IN. Neither the cheering crowds nor Beyer Stadium exist today. The All American Girl’s Baseball League played the last season with only in 1954. The stadium, due to lack of use and general disrepair, was demolished in the early 1990s. |
