2002-2003 TALENTed Faculty | Doug Hesbol

Generation www.Y in the Higher Education Classroom

PT3 Coordinator: Lynn Burdick

The goal of the Generation www.Y project is to pair students with classroom teachers to develop technology-rich lesson plans for classroom use. This Generation www.Y project pairs Thomasboro 7th graders with classroom teachers at Thomasboro Grade School to develop a technology-rich Social Studies curriculum. U of I students in C&I 306-307 will also be included in the lesson planning giving the U of I students experience with the Generation www.Y model of faculty development.

Doug Hesbol is in his first year as Superintendent/Principal of the Thomasboro School District as well as being a PhD candidate in U of I's College of Education. Doug contacted the University to try to develop some partnerships with the University that could benefit the staff and students at Thomasboro. Doug was put in touch with Lynn Burdick from the PT3/TALENT Project who was interested in piloting a Generation www.Y program with a K-12 school and university instructors. Together they are piloting the first Generation www.Y program in Illinois.
